Reconnaissance means...

Hai Betches,

Today I'm gonna sexplain to you the meaning of Reconnaissance, a sexy term that I will frequently use from now onwards.

Reconnaissance is the only shared similarity between businesses such as events, military, oil & gas, marketing, property, photographers, videographers and many more.

Wikipedia says:

"Reconnaissance is the military term for exploring beyond the area occupied by friendly forces to gain information about enemy forces or features of the environment.

Often referred to as recce (British & Commonwealth) or recon (USA), the associated verb is reconnoitre in British English or reconnoiter in American English."

Job scopes that require recce-ing also demands proof for references' sake, such as pictures. I usually don't take pictures, cause being me have some privileges. But since I have this blog now, I might wanna get use to it.

On that note, below are the pictures that I took when I went to recce 2 places. The first slideshow is when I was at Ciao, Jalan Kampung Pandan (Next to ZebraKL). Its an Italian restaurant where its patrons are mostly expats and the chef-cum-owner is also this good looking Italian guy with the name Rudy.

My next recce below is at Marmalade, situated on the second floor (I think) of Bangsar Village 2. Just happen to be there when my uni friends decided to take me out for lunch and dessert for my belated birthday celebration.

That all for this post so far. Now you know what Reconnaissance means, if you haven't. Feel free to use it with your friends whenever you feel like being a smart-ass.

Cheers :)

Mission 12: Canopy in the Jungle

See, when I am given an assignment, there are a few things that I need to fulfil.

My top priority is to suit the look-and-feel of any particular event. The more unique it is, the harder it gets. (Uu, me like challenge)

So when you are asked to
1) accommodate 80 pax with F&B,
2) get ample space to stage a press conference in the middle of a boot camp in Ulu Yam,
3) do it outdoors,
4) by the river bank,
5) mid-rainy and monsoon season and
6) was expected to be classy all the same;

Take it as a challenge.

Because they won't throw you into a sea of sharks if they think you can't swim and not scrumptious enough to be eaten.

So anyways, for this project, my arrangements with vendors are as below:

1. Food and Beverages: Flora etcetera
2. Canopies, tables, chairs & decor: Flora etcetera
3. (Supposed) PA System supplier: Doremi Rental and Services

Note that I stated "supposed", and I assume you are asking why.

Well, me being the typical bimbo me, gave the PA supplier the wrong date. It was supposed to be 26th January, but I SMSed them 26th February. Meh, I miscalculated by a month, not a big deal if you ask me.

(Well I lied. I spat out curse phrases at a level where even Hitler will bow to my feet begging me to stop)

Though I am unfortunate to be blessed with my infrequent blonde-like idiocy, luckily the place have their own PA system that they gladly allow me to borrow, for free.

So anyways, here are the pictures of the event:

As you noticed, Flora etc did a very good job at decorating the place and fulfilling all my requirements. Event setup specifications are as per below, just in case you're wondering:

I guess that's all in a day's work for moi.

See you peeps next time. Next post, I will explain to you the meaning of Reconnaissance.

Stay tune

Aren't We Already Planners of Our Own Eventful Lives?

I created this blog, to appreciate.

Appreciating the things that we do for living, because we take pride in what we do.

Appreciating all the hard work, sacrifice & all the beautiful things, materialized at the end of the tunnel.

Appreciating aspirations, therefore, hopefully, to inspire.

This blog is created merely to assist those who is in need of insight to what an Event Planner does on a daily basis. To be the muse to other Event Planners, with hope they would become mine when I need them at times of dire.

Cheers
